.HISTORY IN THE MAKING

Via the WBC MUAY THAI it was announced that the upcoming matchup between Thailand’s Sanaejan SorJor Tongprajin and her compatriot, Buakaw SorPorror Chaiyaphum will be contested for the WBC MuayThai mini-flyweight world title and the Lumpinee Stadium mini-flyweight title.

History will be made when two athletes clash as this will be the first time in recorded history that females will fight at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium. The championship unification showdown is tentatively set for Saturday, May 15, dependent on the lifting of ongoing COVID-19 restrictions.

For al long time the major arenas not hosted or entertained the idea of hosting a women’s bout.This fight card will be making history as it is the first time female fighters will be allowed to compete at this prestigious stadium. 

Lumpinee Boxing Stadium is an arena in Bangkok, Thailand, that opened more than a decade later than Rajadamnern Stadium. It has grown into the symbol of modern muay Thai. The ranking system and championship titles begin from mini flyweight (105 lb) up to super welterweight (154 lb). 

The last event at its original site on Rama IV Road was on February 8, 2014. The arena has now been moved to its new home on Ram Intra Road, holding up to 5,000 spectators. The new stadium held the first fight on February 11, 2014, and was officially opened on February 28, 2014. s
