VISA

This is just a quick guide. When it comes to official paperwork be sure to contact your local Thai COnsulate to see what they require. I hate to say this but in my experience depending whos behind the desk they will ask for different types of paperwork. I even pulled my phone out once to show my bank balance even though I had an official signed a financail statement from my bank. Everyone’s experience will be different, just be sure to stay calm and be nice.

Visa Exemptions

•    Bilateral Agreement, 90 days: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, South Korea.

•    Bilateral Agreement, 30 days: Laos, Macau, Mongolia, Russia, and Vietnam.

•    Visa Exempt, 30 days at Airport  Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Brunei, Belgium, Canada, Czech, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia(unlimited), Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Oman, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Slovak, Slovenia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UAE, United Kingdom and USA.

•    Some countries can only get 15 days: Andorra, Bhutan, Bulgaria, China + Taiwan, Cyprus, Ethiopia, India, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.

Single Entry Tourist Visa

• Permits you to stay in the country for 60 Days

• Your Passport must not expire within 6 months and contain at least ONE utterly empty visa page.

• 1 copy of Passport that shows your photo, name, date, and place of birth and the expiration date of passport

• Completed visa application all sections must be completed including proposed address in Thailand

• Two photos (Passport photo, 2” x 2”, color, front view, taken within 6 months, and write your name and last name on the back of each photo).

• A copy of airline ticket showing flights into and out of Thailand. Either paper ticket or confirmed e-ticket is acceptable.

• A copy of the applicant’s recent bank statement reflecting at least US $700 for a single applicant, $1,500 per family)

METV or Multi-Entry Tourist Visa

The METV is available to tourists of all nationalities. Applicants can apply for the METV at all Thai Embassies. The application fee is $200, with a visa validity of six (6) months and the duration of stay of up to sixty (60) days per visit. The length of the visa starts from the date your visa is issued. It is advised to try and obtain the visa closer to the date of your departure.

Requirements for the Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa (METV)

• Your Passport must have blank and will not expire within six months from time of travel to and from Thailand 


• 1 copy of Passport that shows your photo, name, date, and place of birth and the expiration date of Passport


• Completed visa application all sections must be completed including the proposed address in Thailand


• Two photos (Passport photo, 2” x 2”, color, front view, taken within 6 months, and write your name and last name on the back of each photo).
• A copy of applicant’s recent bank statement showing a minimum of US $7,000
• Letter from employer verifying employment
• A Copy of airline tickets (e-tickets or itinerary showing confirmed flights) – tickets should show multiple entries
• Copy of hotel reservation with the address listed
• Visa fee $200

Visa Extensions

Apply for an extension at the local immigration office:

•    Permits you to stay an extra 30 days 

•    Passport with a valid Tourist Visa

•    Photocopy the main passport photo page, current Thai tourist visa page, departure card, and latest entry stamp (sign all photocopies, too)

•    Fill out the application for Extension of Temporary Stay, form TM.7

•    One 4cm x 6cm passport photo

•    Application fee of 1,900 baht ($60 )

Bring your current address in Thailand (use your hotel address) and your Thai phone number (if you have one) as this information will be needed to fill out the form.
